Scotty, how did you balance tires before modern tech and can you reuse weights that were on an old tire to balance?
When I was working my way through college at a discount store installing tires and batteries 50 years ago we used a static bubble balancer. (I was taught to use the "Y" method in the video below.) I have also balanced tires using the gravity method. Another technique was to spin balance tires on the car using a mechanical device that would dial in the correct balance. (A friend of mine who was a mechanic used this method.)
You don't want to re-use clip-on wheel weights since the spring clip can lose its grip. I've never dealt with stick-on weights but presumably the adhesive is one-time use.
