Hi there,
I have a brand new Toyota Yaris Cross 2023, the car doesn’t have much mileage on it but since almost day 1 the car giving me some problems with starting.
When contacting the dealer they told me “It’s because you don’t drive enough” which seems a bit clueless of an answer to me and when I bring them the car they claim it’s all good.
would love an advice to where I should start from and what to check.
What kind of starting problems? Is there a reason you suspect the battery? Do you let the car sit unused for weeks at a time?
Take it to another dealer that will actually do some diagnostic work instead of giving you feeble excuses.
Basically what I do is getting into the car, press the Start button and it won’t start.
No errors or what so ever.
Is the battery dead when that happens? Does the car need to be jump started to get it going?
Yeah, thats pretty much it.
Since I have to jump start the car thats why I believe the battery is a problem.
Do you think there is a power drain?
Sounds like you have a parasitic drain, though it could be a bad battery. Being a new car under warranty the dealer has to fix it. If your dealer won't do it try another dealer, get Toyota corporate involved if you have to.
I was told that the Toyota Yaris Cross has a small battery, now, there is a Parasitic Drain which is a security system that is mandatory in my country, the thing is, should it kill a new battery that fast?...
Sounds to me like a bunch of hooey. (That's a polite way of putting it. Bald-faced lie is probably more accurate.) Cars have been equipped with security systems of one sort or another for decades without quickly draining the battery. What you are experiencing is not normal.
Dealers hate warranty work because it's a money loser for them. You need to put on the gorilla suit and force the issue.
Seems like theres no escape... I'll try my best, appreciate your help!
They're trying to blow you off. Don't let them off the hook so easily.
