Battery light and nasty exhaust

Hey Scotty I got a 2001 Chevrolet Impala 3.4 automatic transmission with 145,000 miles. Kept shaking and stalling out on me at low speeds, diagnosed as dry rotted vacuum lines and 2 faulty ignition coils. Replaced vacuum lines and ignition coils 1 and 3, as well as cleaning the throttle body, MAF and changing the fuel and air filters. Runs better however still sometimes takes a few times to start, sputters a little and the battery light comes on, accompanied by foul smelling exhaust. Any thoughts? Thank you!

the battery light is telling you something.

A bad battery or alternator can cause those symptoms.

Recently had both battery and alternator checked, both were working ok. I’ll have to get it done again.

make sure all your connections are clean and tight too: battery terminals, ground cable, ...
