Hey I have an 85 Toyota pickup that I finally got running. I got it from my grandparents farm and it has been sitting for about 4 years. What maintenance should I do to it since it’s been sitting. It has 130k miles
Change engine oil, filter, check other fluids, check the hoses for leaks. In what shape is battery? Tyres?
Change the oil, filter and pcv valve. Replace the transmission and differential oil. Flush and refill the cooling system, hydraulic clutch and brake system. Pull off the rear drums and clean the rust off with emery cloth. New air filter. Try to get rid of the old fuels (siphon) and fill with fresh. When starting for first time, pull the coil wire and with a large wire, ground it to the block, then spin the engine over till the oil pressure light goes out. Reconnect the coil wire and fire it up. It will probably run like crap until it gets clean fuel in the system. Don't forget a new fuel filter too. Good luck! Keep an eye on the temperature, you're probably going to need a new thermostat and upper and lower hoses.
Thank you, this really helped
That’s a cool truck, don’t forget to give it a good wash, and clean the inside too. Best of luck
Legendary !
