What’s a good reliable Beater Car?

Should I buy a beater car, either a Honda Civic, Toyota Corolla, or Toyota Solara if I drive 70 miles each way to work each day. I will put 140-150 miles 5 days a week on the car. I didn't know if they would be reliable enough to handle this. It is almost all highway miles.

Depends on the overall condition, they can be good commuter cars.

Highway miles is equivalent to around 10% of city miles. So the high highway running shouldn’t adversely affect the mechanicals, unless you drive all that mileage in town.

As with any used car, have it thoroughly inspected by a professional mechanic, before purchase.

Any old buick lesebre or Park avenue or a 2000-2005 impala with the 3.8 v6 in it.  That is the best engine GM ever made.  The fuel injected version is the 3800 series 2
