Beauty covers for engines

Is there any reason to put the “stupid” beauty cover back on the engine.  Does it do anything other than be a pain to take on and off during maintenance?

You can leave it off if you want.

It can work as a noise isolation so you hear less of the engine noise.

It makes the engine look neat and tidy

It basically just hides all the ugly parts most people don't want to see. You can leave them off. You'd be surprised what they cost though. On my 2018 Mistang GT the cover was $350 from Ford.

It's all form, zero function. May increase resale value with a good dealers wipe down LOL. Who knows.

I prefer them off. You have something that gets hot and needs to breathe. And whatever engineer decided to put a blanket over it wasn’t thinking straight. Especially for any plastic parts under it. Let’s just hold heat in here. Planned obsolescence, oh joy.

That makes a lot of sense. Never thought of the extra heat it could cause for the engine. Thanks.

it is engineered to be on there, I don’t see it bad to keep it on

The ones that have some insulation built into them for a little sound deadening will also trap the heat from the engine. Hate them. Besides trapping the heat under there; they also trap leaves and all sorts of other debris and if you leave your vehicle parked outside for any length of time. The little rodents like to move in and can make a cozy home for themselves under there.
