Where I live I have lots of long red lights, and near where I work there are train tracks so sometimes I sit for a while. What is best for my transmission to make sure it lasts longer? Putting it in neutral? In park? Or can I leave it in drive with my foot on the brake?

Put it in park. If your climate permits, set the parking brake & turn off your engine (while stopped).
