Best homemade car soap

Looking for the best recipe.  I'm cheap and want to use items readily available around the house.  Needs to be safe for my car's paint finish. Please HELP!!  Car washing is how I bond w/ my Toyota Camry so this is vital. Lol.  🙂

Laundry soap works, but car soap is so cheap already. A 1 qt. bottle lasted me years.

over here, 2 qt costs $9 . It's concentrated so you only need a little bit. I use even less than they recommend on the bottle. It should last a long time.
so yes it is pretty dirt cheap

Also, commercial car soaps contain wax, which will protect the paint for a while.

Today I used gallon water, 1/4 cup baking soda, teaspoon of dishwashing liquid.  Seemed to work but not sure if over time it will damage the paint finish.

I never bought car soap so I'll have to take your word that it is dirt cheap?

@flappy
I don't think your formula will do damage as long as you don't use too much soda, and you let it completely dissolve. Too much will make your solution basic which could cause corrosion. And if you have undissolved bits , it could scratch soft surfaces like plastic. Also, I don't know how well baking soda rinses away. I know that when I get it on my hands they feel slimy.
Also, I find that dish soap lathers too much.
