Hi Scotty (or whoever is answering this) I am currently looking for a used hybrid and have come across two cars (From Toyota dealerships) that seem to fit what I am looking for. One is a 2019 Honda Insight ex fwd with 44,702 miles. The other is a 2018 Toyota Avalon hybrid xle premium with 141,914 miles. I don’t know whether I should go with the less premium Honda which has less miles or go for the trusty Toyota which has over 100k miles. I want to know what you think about buying a used hybrid with a lot of miles and which one would be better off in the long run. Thanks!
Clarification: How many years and miles do you need it to last you?
The best hybrids (and long lasting with minimal issues) are going to be Toyota’s: they have been doing this for over 20 years and have it dialed in. That being said, never buy a high mileage used hybrid including that Toyota. Usually Toyota Hybrids can go 150,000 to 200,000 miles (generally, even a little more) before battery replacement or something in the hybrid system (like generator) needs repair and that will cost $$$. So, I would pass on that. Forget the Honda.
