Hey there Scotty
I am an Audio/Video contractor installer in Nashville TN, Can you give me you honest opinion, Im in the market for another work van, Had a 2002 Ford e-350 Econoline Van I drove for 15 years, had 350,000 miles on it when i let it go
Not sure what to get now dont really like any of the newer choices, Was looking at 2016 -up Mercedes Sprinters,But they seem to have a bad wrap !, Ford Transits (Look like Disney World Mono Rails lol) Ram pro masters ( Front wheel Drive Uggg ! Obviously everything expensive right now, but kinda been looking at just the GMC savanas, Just wanted your thoughts on anything you would get maybe 2016 or so and up, Ive been following your channel for a while now
Luv it , Great honest knowledgeable info
Thanks in advance

Petrol / Diesel?
Automatic / Manual?
what are the engine roughly the engine displacements you're looking at?
@mountainmanjoe Maybe the imperator has some suggestions?
Toyota Sienna
It is bit expensive but can last hella long. My best friend wife has that car it is from 2015. The Van has 150000miles. The only issue it got so far was it needed new tires and new battery
Also basic maintenance
First of all, Definitely not the RAM ProMaster. that's a rebadged Fiat Ducato and it's just terrible, one of the least reliable vehicles I've ever seen.
The rest depends on the exact engines and gearboxes you're considering...
Ok Thank you, Whats you thoughts on the 3.0 Turbo Diesel Sprinters in general or any of the Ford Transits, Or GMC Savannas V-8
Thanks in advance
The Sprinter isn’t built to last like the old E-350 but it’s decent…
The Mercedes 3.0 diesel V6 is a very good engine, but you must periodically clean the intake manifold, inspect the exhaust manifold for cracks and other then that it’s a solid engine.
I’ve herd about issues with the EGR and PVC valves getting clogged but it seems to be simple enough to resolve if it ever happens…

The GMC Savana is a GM product so it does have typical GM problems and isn’t really known for it’s reliably.
Although the DuraMax is a solid engine, the 6L90E transmission is definitely the weak-spot as it can fail as early as 150k miles.

On the topic of the transit, I sadly don’t have much experience with the new ones…
Thank you, The old Ford E-350s were tanks, had for 18 years, with 350,000 miles but was a maint snob,
Synthetic oil from day one, But only work every done was belts,Brakes and 1 plug coil, everything out now is expensive junk in comparison, Thanks for your time on reply !
Blessings
Say Audioman How is the van search going?I was very interested to hear your story about the E /350 van. I am headed back to the past and have just purchased my first e series van. It is a 2003 in Tucson with 120 k miles. (gov auction) It has the 5.4 v/8 which Scotty has said to stay away from. I have to pick it up in a few weeks and want to drive it back to MA. I am apprehensive now because there was a “van would not start” line in the inspection report! Hopefully the battery was dead but I won’t know until I go to pick it up. Any encouraging words on my auction deal? Anyone else is welcome to chime in or even help me out in Tucson. Carl {black}:idontknow:
Me I would go Toyotas and all the others are not that reliable or like a Mercedes cost way too much money
