I use a 22gn big tex gooseneck trailer for hauling. What truck seems to have the least amount of problems that I can use as a hotshot truck. I have used the dodge ram 3500 and the ford f350 2020 with the Cummins engine. Both have to go to the shop every month. Can the toyota truck haul large loads like the dually dodge ram and the ford f350? I'm ready to purchase something vs leasing.
The Toyota Tundra probably isn't rated to tow quite as much as a dually, but it should be able to pull that trailer no problem.
Thanks. I usually carry 10,000 lbs plus the trailer weight at 7700.
It looks like the 2021 Tundra is rated to tow 10,200.
Not sure about your weight needs, but this thing can tow a Space Shuttle.

that's what we call a "publicity stunt" .It doesn't really tell you much about real world capabilities. A Smart car could pull the space shuttle if it goes slowly enough and you throw it away after.
And what an amazing publicity stunt it was! Toyota lucked out, being at the right place, at the right time, to make that happen.
Wow!
Also glad to know it was a stunt. and that it would be no good after its all over. 🙂
The story behind this is that the Space Shuttle needed to be transported from the airport to the museum. And the route there was mostly surface streets. Most of the way, they used a special rig that was put together specifically to move the Space Shuttle.
However, there was one section where the special rig was too heavy to cross the bridge. So they needed an alternative. Something lighter than the special rig, yet strong and powerful enough to tow a Space Shuttle.
They got a stock Toyota Tundra from a local dealer. Detached the special rig. Attached the Toyota Tundra, and then crossed the bridge.
Why did they choose the Tundra? Just by coincidence, one of the museums sponsors is Toyota, so it is natural that Toyota had first dibs.
It wasn't necessarily a publicity stunt qua publicity stunt. I.E. they didn't pull a Space Shuttle to sell more trucks. Rather, they lucked out in being at the right place at the right time as a sponsor, so their truck was chosen.
And by lucking out, probably did sell more trucks.
I believe the truck that pulled the space shuttle is now on display at the museum that the space shuttle went to.
Ford did this too as a stunt. It was the new electric truck towing a million pounds.
If you don’t mind sharing, what issues have the Ram and Ford had? This will help other members out that might also be looking for a heavy hauler but leaning towards Ram or Ford.
engine light comes on and it wants to slow down. they said a valve was stopped up something to do with def. same thing all the time
The F350 2020 stopped twice. Pulls good but uses a lot of gas.
The passive-aggressive nanny’s at the EPA have been working overtime to make contemporary diesels unviable. Since none of the regulators are dependent on a heavy duty truck for their livelihood I assume the problem will only get worse. Maybe take a look at the Ford 7.3L Godzilla super duty. It has flaws too but might work for you.
Thanks , just pulled it up and now they have a Megazilla coming to. Suppose to be lighter .
Speaking from just personal experience, my brothers construction company builds steel scaffolding they haul traliers and beds full of steel tens of thousands of miles each year and alot of inner city driving in them too. His fleet consists of two GMC 2500s and one GMC 3500 dually duramax diesel. Its built with the gooseneck. The older 2500 is a 2014 and has nearly 200k miles on it and still runs well despite being heavily used and abused daily. The other two are 2016s so 5 yrs old with 5-6 days a week use. Sounds like the 3500 is more aligned with your needs but if it were me Id strongly conaider these GMCs base on what Uve seen them do and put up with very impressive reliability and virtually no mechanical issues. I think Scotty even featured these trucks in one of his videos. Hope this helps.
I would look at the brand new Ram 3500 with the high output Cummins diesel and the Asin transmissions they should be better. Your Ram 3500 might have been a lemon.
Thanks. will check it out
