I don’t think it’s worth the money. These cars don’t last 200,000 miles. After about 120,000 miles you’d typically encounter serious issues.

Scotty has shown various other Volvo’s from that time that are actually very good cars.

I personally own a Volvo C30 (you can see it in all it’s glory in my profile pic) and have owned a Volvo S40, those cars are much better built although very similar mechanically.

Doesn't the S40 share 60% of its parts with the European Ford Focus?

The S40, C30, V50 and C70 are all “P1” Volvo cars. They’re some of the best cars out there.

They share their Powertrain with the legendary Volvo’s Scotty recommends

And the other half is shared with the 2nd generation Ford Focus we have over here.

The result was that If you look at the ConsumerReports 2011 survey you’ll see that Volvo placed higher then Lexus with their best model being the C30.

The Volvo P1 platform is closely related to the Focus of the time but I do believe that it’s for the best. They drive like a Volvo should but have excellent part availability and many skilled mechanics that can keep them going forever.

Thank you for the information. Much appreciated

I’m glad to help 🙂

They tend to use excessive oil and the transmission (though a Toyota/Aisin design) tend to be weaker. I'd pass unless you get one with a lot less miles for a good price, in which case they can be great cars until they start to become endless money pits right around 130 150k miles

No. Run away. Those cars have transmission issues. Besides that, the engine is turbo charged and I don’t think they hold up over time.

Thanks
