My 2017 Camry is close to 300,000 miles and is facing an expensive transmission replacement. I am looking to go the used Compact SUV route (RAV-4, CR-V, CX-5, Rogue et al.). Which used SUV in this class does the hive mind recommend? Is there a specific year for a specific model jump out at anyone? I like the features of the Rogue, but Nissan quality is suspect. I drove the CX-5 as a rental and was impressed, but just like with Nissan, I am not sure of Mazda's reliability. I appreciate all input. Thank you.
I hear Nissan CVT transmission have a high failure rate so I would never buy one.
Toyotas are said to be the most reliable.
Hondas supposedly have better handling and are more fun to drive compared to Toyota, but they usually have timing belts that need changing every 100,000 miles.
I haven't heard any negative things about Mazda. They seem to make quality vehicles.
