Hi Scotty:
From a cost to own and reliability perspective, what's a better new car to buy
2022 Acura MDX or a 2021 Audi Q7?
I would lease them both. The Acura would be less of a risk to buy (if you absolutely must), but this new generation came out for 2022 MY although the 3.5L V6 engine has been out for many years but the available turbocharged version (3.0L turbo V6) is still fairly new. In any event, the 3.5L V6 NA engine still has cylinder deactivation which if you own the vehicle for a long time and rack up the miles can eventually wear out/even potentially damage the engine (it’s a liability). Also, the jury is still out on the longevity of the Honda designed 10-speed auto. If you wanted to buy, at least buy the Acura, but it being a whole new generation and with those high tech engine and transmissions I strongly recommend to lease (and also invariably there will be some bugs to work out the first several years).
You shouldn't throw your money on either, but Acura is the better made one by far.
Acura, but I would pass on both, but I am cheap and hate losing 15k in one day as it hits the asphalt due to devaluation.
