Blower resister keeps blowing

Hello!!

I have a 2006 Ford Ranger XLT 4.0L, Automatic, with 78k miles. I have replaced the blower motor resister several times now, it works for a while and blows again causing the fan to only work on the high setting. I have replaced the harness, I have not done anything with the blower motor itself yet. Any ideas? Much thanks in advance!

Hey @chucktobias & @mmj,
Thank you so much for the input! I did not want to just start throwing parts at it.
**I needed to create a 2nd account just to reply to you, when I tried logging in to respond, it said my password was incorrect somehow, so I tried to "reset password" but never received an email in the last 24hrs+. Nothing in junk or spam
folder.**

Email is non-functional unfortunately. When you forget your password it's gone.
You should have called yourself A-A-A-Ron 😆

"You should have called yourself A-A-A-Ron LoL"

Your blower motor is likely pulling too much current and blowing the resistor.

actually, just to be thorough, it wouldn't hurt to check for a wire short.

That or use a DC clamp ammeter to measure current to the motor using jumper cables.
