I have a 2011 Toyota Corolla LE made in Japan with 146,000 miles and an automatic transmission. I bought this a few months back from a dealer and I noticed the defroster doesn't work on the rear window. Took it to a mechanic and he told me the previous owner may have damaged the technology that heats up the rear window from removing the tint incorrectly. Was told I need a new window. I would like to get OEM glass and have it installed, but for the best price possible. Do I have to go to a Toyota dealer to get OEM glass and have it installed there? Would anyone else have it? The the side windows are Nippon Safety and the back one that needs to replaced is an aftermarket.
Does it have the grid? If yes the you just need to restore the connection to it.
I am of the understanding that places like Safelite Autoglass can get OEM glass. I haven’t tried it myself, so I really don’t know.
My insurance gives an option to pay additional coverage for OEM glass. And they outsource it to places like Safelite. So I assume that it can be done!
I believe they sell repair kits if some of the grid is just scratched off
