I have a bmw 545i 2004 that has weird idle I’ve taken it to my mechanic many times but he couldnt figure out why it does it. When I turn it on the rpm stays at 1500 sometimes, other times it goes up and down as if it was a cammed corvette. And idea? We’ve changed out the spark plugs, coils, transmission solenoids, oil to 10w 40, battery, throttle body, and it has 180k miles.
I forgot to mention we put a new computer drive thingy because the old one was fried a
I'm not sure what is meant by a "computer drive thingy" but I'm admittedly not up to speed on BMW technical terminology. What caused it to fry and was that cause addressed? If reprogramming or a learning procedure was needed for that part (likely with a BMW) was that done?
That's a heck of a lot of parts thrown into that thing. Were any actually confirmed to be bad? Were OEM replacements installed? Has a diagnostic scan for codes and live data been done?
@chucktobias I forgot to mention we put a new computer drive thingy because the old one was fried and everything checked out to be good. I asked if it could be the mass airflow sensor but it checked out to be good too.
