Hi Scotti
I have a 1 year old Kia Sorento. This week I noticed a rattle coming from under the hood. I discovered they use a flexible glue to hold the wheel well sheet metal to the fender. The two pieces separated. I put duct tape on the seam and that made it quiet. I was wondering what adhesive could be used for a more permanent fix. I am thinking silicone calking. The original stuff looks like hot glue. Do other car makers us glue to bond sheet metal parts together. I was considering a couple of spot welds but with all the sensitive electronics I might blow something in the process. I am going to see what the dealer says.
I would apply some body panel adhesive and use some pop rivets. Your vehicle is under warranty. Why don't you get the dealer to fix it for free?
That's what the dealer did. He used two pop rivets on both sides. They said they have been coming loose on the Sorento's. I was afraid to do it myself. I did not know if I would be drilling into wiring or the washer reservoir.
