I’ve been trying to recharge the AC system on a Ford F-150 with what I believe is an IAC issue. The problem is, when I try to get a psi reading, the engine is jumping it’s idling from 800 rpm’s to 1500 rpm’s and back down. When this happens the psi reading also jumps with it, so I can’t get a reading on the psi. The last thing I want to do is overcharge the system. Any thoughts?

Evacuate the system and charge in the manufacturer-specified amount of refrigerant by weight. That is the only way you can know that it's right.
