Hi I recently bought an old 2001 Nissan sentra with only 58k original miles. The brake line on the passenger rear cracked a leak and I repaired the brake line. And also replaced all the brake hoses on all four wheels. It has disc brakes all around. Now I need to bleed the system my question is the master cylinder/reservoir did run dry from the leak, the brake light is on, do I need to bleed the master cylinder before I bleed all the lines? And should I leave the brake cap off or resting over the reservoir when I do go to bleed all the lines? I've always put the cap back on while bleeding but have seen articles saying to leave the cap resting on the reservoir while bleeding which makes no sense to me. Your help will be greatly appreciated. And thank you for all your videos I've been watching them for many years.

I would take the master cylinder off and bench bleed it before hooking it back up to the booster.
Leave the cap for the brake fluid off. Bleed each individual line from the rear passenger side, first, then the driver's side rear. Next, bleed the front right brake line and finally, the front driver's side brake.
Depending on how advanced your ABS system is, you my need a bidirectional scanner with ABS capability to fully bleed the lines.
