I have a 2016 RAV4 Limited with 75,000 miles. About 6,000 miles and 18 months ago, I was visiting Gatlinburg and saw a Black Bear and two cubs. I got to them, but got the car in an awkward position. After that the brakes really made a lot of noise. I babied them and they got somewhat quieter; so, when I got back to my home town Murfreesboro, I had Midas check the brakes. They took all wheels off and said everything looked fine. These are original brakes so I was ready to install new brakes. Things were better, but in morning when I back out of garage (up a slight incline) I hear a scrapping when I touch brakes. After another 6 months, I took it to Firestone and explained the noise and they could not find anything wrong. They said the front pads were getting close to need changing, but rear pads looked excellent. I had them change front pads and it seemed to be better. Anyway the noise is still there. Could there still be some dirt trapped some where in my rear brakes? Could something else other than brakes be the noise such as structs? Do I need to have brake fluid system flushed? I really like this car but this noise is a pain. Could some dirt be trapped under my rear pads causing this noise. It only happens when I back up in the morning.
I would look at your backing plates on the brakes more in depth. Sometimes they will only scrape or make noise during certain temperatures or scenarios when braking or when turning or something like that
Thanks I will do that.
