How can one determine if your front or rear rotors are warped? Where and how can one determine the shakes?

My original question was how can one determine if the front or rear rotors are bad? It's been said that a shake on the steering wheel and a shake on the brakes differ to determine front or rear rotors. Do you you which shakes affect what?
warped front rotors shake the steering wheel. Warped rear rotors shake your seat.
