Hi there,
I drive a manual BYD F3 2011 with 54,000 kilometers on it (almost 33,550 miles).
Recently, the steering wheel started to vibrate roughly on 80 km/h or above. I decided to check if the brake rotors need resurfacing.
To my surprise after jacking the car, only the front left wheel has power. The front right Barley moved, making 5 or 6 rounds per minute (no joke), and sometimes stops completely.
I uploaded a video of this problem on YouTube just for fun. You can find it here: https://youtu.be/9ywdyMIZu8k
I'm having trouble figuring out if it's a problem with the brakes, or the wheel doesn't receive power to begin with.
Please, what do you think is the problem, and how should I fix it? Also, do you recommend that I take the car to the dealership and have them fix it, or should I work on an issue like that on my own, follow the guidelines, and purchase the right tools and components?
Thanks for your time.
Been a while since I've done this with both wheels off the ground but I think the action of the differential will have this effect.
It's supposed to do that.
Try it again but with the wheels on. Then carefully slow down the spinning wheel (press a broom handle or something against it so the wheel doesn't grab your hands and injure you). You will see the other wheel start to turn.
When both wheels are on the ground and have tractions, they both get power from the engine.
you can watch an excellent educational video about how it works in my vintage film topic:
