Dear Scotty,
I have a 2004 Toyota Solara V6 with 150,000 miles. I need to replace the remotes to unlock the doors but Toyota wants $400 for the remotes and programming (my keys work fine). I called around for locksmiths to see if they could do it and they said they couldn't guarantee their work and I would have to pay upfront. I live in a big area so I called around and no one seemed to want to do the work and guarantee it. Any ideas?
By the way my Toyota was made in Kentucky and it has never had any issues it's whole life so good cars can be made in the USA.
Love the videos!
You can buy remotes online for far less than dealer prices. Some sellers have Toyota programming instructions that do not require special dealer equipment, just a complex series of moves like stand upside down on your hands, walk that way into a corner, and piss nickels while whistling the star spangled banner...

86 the remotes and just use your keys. What did you do before remotes came out?
a lot of drivers now weren't alive during the "before remotes" era 🙂
I have a Ford but I got mine done at ace hardware. They had a tool case full of whatever they need to program the cars when you get a new fob. Was $70 and a guy goes out to your car to program it.
Do they also do coded/transponder keys ?
Yes. I got a new key at that time too.
Awesome. Thank you.
I forgot to mention it took some time. They have to send the key out to be programmed.
I dunno
Down here, my locksmith sells them for $75 and programs them.
