2009 chevy tahoe 5.3 with 144,000 miles . i hit the brake hard and my steering wheel shook brake pedal did not shake had hit the brakes a few times before steering wheel shook?

Generally a steering wheel shake while braking would indicate brake rotors out of round. Usually more pronounced when the brakes are hot
