hello every one I just bought a 2024 ford explore st
with the 3.0 ecoboost twin turbo with 400 hp and I was wondering do I do the first oil change a 500 miles or 1,000 miles
the owners manual dosent say at what miles to do the first break in miles it currently has 480 miles thanks.
AMD of The Care Care Nut channel explains his reasoning for a first oil change at 1000 miles. I believe his reasoning is sound (regardless of manufacturer) https://youtu.be/nBBUQJKTaiM?t=308

especially when you hear about Toyota crib deaths caused by debris from the factory. For those you might want to change the oil as soon as you get it home!
I believe the photo you posted of metal shavings on an oil rag.. weren't they from a V35A engine? So yeah, if I was bring home a new car I'd stop and change the oil on the way home so I would be able to sleep. j/k They left machined debris IN the blocks.. That's pretty sad.
Cars don't need broken in in this day and age. Even when my 1979 Pontiac Catalina was made, breaking in periods were a thing of the past.
Computers designed all of the components inside the engine, and the oil filter caught everything if there were any leftover metallic bits the first time it was started.
I bought my Mustang brand-new and I changed the oil after 1,000 miles. If it makes you feel better, change it at 1,000 miles, but you don't need to.
