I have a 2003 Honda Odyssey with 470,000km on the clock. A few days ago the age old Honda livk problem surfaced, and I can no longer put the key in the ignition. My mechanic says I need a new cylinder and ignition circuit, along with new keys (which have to be programmed to the csr) adding up to around $750CAD.
I don't want to out that sort of money into such an old car. The way I see it, security comes from the chip in the key talking to the immobilizer circuit, not the key fittinv the wafers in the lock. Is there some way of breaking the lock, so that my key will fit in and turn the cylinder and start the car without replacing the lock?
