Good day Scotty.

I would like to buy a 2012 toyota camry. But i checked the vehicle history of the car and it had transmission problem that is already fixed. Do you think i should buy it or walk away? Here is the carfax https://www.carfax.com/VehicleHistory/p/Report.cfx?vin=4t1bf1fk8cu094563&partner=cdm_o

Thank you

I reviewed the Carfax and the transmission was repaired at the best possible place a Lexus Toyota dealer. That said I would make sure the car was checked over by a trusted mechanic. If they check it out and give you the green light then I would still consider the purchase. Not all internal transmission problems are major but many are.

I would walk away unless is dirty cheap and a mechanic you trust check it and tell you is ok.

Selling few months after a transmission job is not a good sign if you want to keep it long time.

There was a torque converter recall on some 2012 Camrys. If it was taken care of by the recall, that’s fine. I have the same car and it runs like a clock now at 140K miles. Toyota replaced my torque converter for free when I experienced shudders around 75K miles.

Find out why current owner wants to get rid of the car.

I agree with m_tokyo. To me, it does not make sense to sell the car in couple months  after that fix. It tells that it might not be fixed properly or the car has another issue.

@yaser
Current owner traded in the car to the dealer. The dealer fixed the transmission before resell.
