I have no interest in buying a new car as you say the value depreciates too much in the beginning. But nowadays people are holding on to cars 10 years and longer so where am I supposed to find a decent car used that doesn't have a ton of mileage on it.
Because of the ongoing used car shortage and resulting crazy prices, plus higher interest rates on used car loans, depending on the situation it might make more sense to buy new if you're looking for a late model used car.
As far as where to find a decent used car you just have to shop around. If you find one that you're interested in be sure to have a good mechanic inspect it before purchase.
I've had good experiences with using Facebook Marketplace, craigslist, and AutoTempest for searching for cars. I own a pretty obscure car myself (2013 Scion xD) and I was even able to get it in the color I wanted (purple) all within a couple of months, for a decent price and not too high of mileage. As has been said however, used car prices are quite high, but are coming down as Scotty has said in his videos, so maybe give it a few more months and you'll be able to find a better deal.
