Buying a used car with frame damage

Scotty,

my brother in law is considering buying a used 2016 Nissan Frontier SV king cab 4x4 automatic with the six cylinder engine from a reputable dealer.  The truck has 45000 miles on it and looks to be in good shape.  There is a lot of aftermarket accessories in it but it doesn’t look like some young kid beat it up.   I looked under the car and it looks like the frame and muffler are scraped up and gouged from someone bottoming out the frame.  Should he stay away from this vehicle?  Runs and drives great! No other signs of abuse.

Welcome new member.  Like @mmj says, if you post a good picture you’ll get a better answer.

Probably, it’s not a deal breaker.  Assuming the frame is straight, I doubt it’s anything to worry too much about.  But the price should be discounted appropriately (and if you’re worried, you can use the savings to have a frame shop address it).

If you haven’t already, get a prepurchase inspection from an independent mechanic. See what they say.
