My truck is a 1998 Toyota Tacoma 2.4l 2wd with at least 194,500 miles on her. Coolant has mixed with the oil in the engine, and I been informed that I might need to replace the head gasket on it. My dad's mechanic friend is letting me use his shop to fix her there. He told me that it'll be easier and more economical for me to just get an entire replacement engine instead of taking the engine head to a machine shop and probably having it not fit the engine block as it originally used to possibly causing more problems later down the road. I know that there are 2 versions of the model that is my truck the one with the 2.4l engine (my truck) and the one with the 2.7l engine. Engines are pricey to buy, and if I'm gonna have to spend alot of money anyway I wanna give my truck more horsepower with a more powerful engine. Is it possible to fit a 2.7l in her without having to make modifications? If modifying is necessary how in depth will it be? or should I just get a replacement 2.4l engine?
Well the engine would fit but the software and everything wouldn't be set up for it so I'd stick to the original size myself
Thank you for your answer. I've been looking up to ya since I discovered your channel on YouTube, while trying to learn more about fixing cars and save money through learning how to fix things yourself. Thanks for doing what you do💯🤘 .
