Buying back 2017 Kia Optima Hybrid from the salvage yard

 Hi Scott,

Love your show. Been watching it for a number of years. It’s awesome what you do and thanks for everything you do.

So I have a question. Last month my car was impacted by a live oak tree. The insurance agency totaled it and I love my car. I have been trying to get another one but right now the market is insane plus financing is just nuts. I only owned the car for a year.

so I’m thinking of buying it from the salavage yard back and looking around who can help fix it even if it takes a while. Basically the back end of the car was impacted but the car still drives and too me in good shape. It’s a 2017 Kia Optima hybrid. 49,000 miles on it. I personally love kia on certain models.

I would send you the photo of the tree on the car but there isn’t anywhere to add it.

Here is the link of the car. https://www.copart.com/lot/45281282/salvage-2017-kia-optima-hybrid-fl-jacksonville-north

thank you again and if you could let me know what you think. My email is <personal info removed. We will not email you. -mod>

Sincerely

Jenn

Why bother?  It's a junk car anyway and you'll probably spend more than it's worth fixing it and won't be able to get insurance anyway.

You don’t want to deal with owning a Hyundai Motor Group product, on top of that a hybrid version (they can’t even get the gasoline-only versions right) plus salvaged.  All their vehicles have issues.  I would put it in your rear view mirror.

I would advise against it

Leave it in the junkyard where it belongs.
