Hello, I have a friend that's looking for a first car. He has a newborn kid and only a budget of $3000. What are some recommendations you would have. Thank you. Ps. He knows nothing about cars so nothing high maintenance please lol.

Look for old Corollas or Civics. And make sure they have it thoroughly inspected by a professional mechanic, before they buy it.

Either of the above, if maintained well, will cost the least to maintain & are relatively spacious.

thank you

Hello, I would recommend a Ford panther platform car, ie. Ford Crown Victoria, and Mercury Grand Marquis.
they are built like a tank, can last last several hundred thousand miles with basic TLC, and comfortably seat five (six in a pinch). You can find them for $3000, or less in some cases. The Toyota Corollas, Civics or Camrys as mentioned earlier are also very good options. That’s my two cents anyhow.
I hope your friend finds a good deal.😃

Also, I forgot to mention the Lincoln Town Car. They are a little harder to find for under $3000, but it is possible.

thank you

If I was in your friend’s shoes, I would look for Toyota Corolla. Although, they will be pretty high mileage for $3k. If you find one that has sun scorched paint or something else cosmetic, it can bring the price down (I learned this from Scotty). Rough looking paint can still be a good running car. Have a mechanic check out your used car, what ever you pick. Good luck to your friend

Thank you

I would look in to a late 90s early-mid 2000s Toyota Camry. I would also look for a 2003-2008 Toyota Corolla. Some years of Honda Civic are also good.

thank you
