Hey Scotty, i’m 17 years old from VA looking for my first car. I really like this 2009 Lexus GS350 with 180,000 miles on it for $6,000 from another person. What are your thoughts and opinions on it and do I absolutely have to put premium gas in it?
I strongly do not recommend a luxury car (especially high mileage one) for a 17-year old as a first vehicle due to the total cost of ownership (insurance, maintenance, repairs, tires, fuel, etc.) being higher. Instead look at a Toyota Camry/Corolla (maybe an Avalon which is a ‘fancy Camry’ and slots just below the Lexus ES, if you must have luxury) or a Honda Accord/Civic. Parts will be cheaper and readily available on those when something needs to be repaired.
I fully agree with @DayWalker. Also realize that the GS series have more maintenance cost compared to the ES and that’s why you can get them cheaper.
