[Solved] Buying my first used SUV

Looking for an SUV I really like the 4runner but I'm worried about the cost of gas so I'm now I'm thinking of the 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee Summit with a diesel engine.  I believe the fuel economy of the Jeep will be better than the 4runner but the cost of repair will be really high.

I live in Canada and right now the cost of diesel is less than the cost of gas.  Also, I'll most likely buy from a dealer as there not many sold privately that I've seen lately.

Getting your opinion will be amazing as I've enjoyed your videos.

Thanks!

I would avoid the Jeep. Sure, it gets better gas mileage than the 4Runner, but it’s a Chrysler. Their quality is so poor that they aren’t even up to par with Toyota. Scotty made a video on this: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=_iIuypTrbnU

You could look at a Toyota RAV4 or even a Highlander as they’ll outlast the Jeep by far, and the Toyotas I mentioned get better gas mileage than the 4Runner.

appreciate the response thank you I didn't see this video but it helps my decision.

Avoid both the Jeep Grand Cherokee and the Eco-diesel engine;  they don’t hold up over time (become money pits) and you will easily spend more in repairs  than the Toyota 4Runner.  See below at 3:10 on the Ecodiesel engine that’s used in the Jeep Grand Cherokee (Italian design by VM Motori).

Thanks for the video - I will not be getting a fiat!

FCA products are garbage. Even industry bedfellow JD Power thinks so, these days.

With the Jeep what you save in fuel you will spend in repairs as they are endless moneypits. Plus right now in my province diesel is less than a cent a liter cheaper than gasoline.

I can't comprehend why you consider the worst modern SUV there is... Instead of watching him rave about Fiat (which made the engine and basically owns all of Chrysler) for hours, here is a 2 minute compilation which should be enough to help you decide whether to buy it or not.
