Buying new jack

Hi Scotty and friends, 2020 Toyota Camry LE, 30318 miles. Thinking of getting a floor Jack (and stands) for doing work like tire rotation. What weight should the Jack (and stands?) be rated for? Also, any recommendations on good brand? Thanks.

Harbor Freight jacks are surprisingly good. You can see Scotty using them in his videos. I've used them for years with no problems. For a Camry you'd probably want one in the 2 to 3 ton range. Depending on how low the car is you may need a low profile jack.

Do not trust HF jack stands though! They have had multiple recalls and even recalls on the recalls due to collapsing.

Got it, will check it out, thanks.

Nice, thanks MountainManJoe

Beware of poor castings!

I like these, they are a bit expensive but very well made. (I have an older set of made-in-USA stands similar to these.)

they look very stable with that wide base

They're a heck of a lot better than the typical Chinesium stands you see around, that's for sure.

Thanks for the tip MountainManJoe. Thanks for the stand recommendations Chuck Tobias.

I would never buy anything from Harbor Freight that has moving parts.

I've heard that before and Scotty has warned about HF too (though he apparently has a jack from them), thanks Doc.
