I’m looking at a 1984 Camaro, engine overheats but comes with new head gaskets, was wondering about what else it could possibly be. I’m looking at this car because my current cars transmission just went out, and I don’t necessarily want to spend 5 grand on a new transmission, if it’s under 5 grand I might get a new one and buy the Camaro anyways.

Many things can cause overheating. Buying a 40-year-old car with an overheating problem doesn't sound like the greatest idea in the world.
