Can a vehicle break down or blow up if it runs rich without fixing anything, even simple checks such as the MAF sensor, spark plugs, air filter, etc?

Yes, the plugs will foul out and the engine won't run. Fix all those things you mentioned and also, injectors.

I wouldn't say the motor would blow up but yes the car can break down if it runs too rich.
