What year should I get for an Acura, and should I get an automatic or manual transmission?

Hello, I wanted to ask which year Acura I should buy (2010 and under). Also, dependent on the year of your choosing, should I get a manual or an automatic transmission, and what are some problems that I can expect from the vehicle in the future?

Thanks for your help in advance!

Honda/Acura has always made great reliable engines. Just be aware of the timing belt intervals on some of their older engines as they are interference engines (meaning if the belt breaks, the engine is toast).

As for the transmission, definitely go for the manual. Honda has always had weak automatic transmissions and especially the older ones (2010 and below years).

And like with any used car, make sure to get it checked by a mechanic for a thorough inspection before you make any decisions on it.

The reliability of Honda/Acura has been on the verge in the modern era of cars. I know people like them, but from my point-of-view, some of them have problems at around 150-200k miles. I would do some research first but looking at any of their models.

ALWAYS go for the manual trans.  You'll have none of the problems that all automatics seem to develop.

Go with the manual if possible. I just sold my 2005 Honda Accord with a standard transmission, but it had 279,000 trouble free miles on it. The small ease of use gained with an automatic isn’t enough to justify the problems that they can have IMO.

If you can drive manual, get the manual for less repair costs down the road. About the models to avoid, do a little research.
