What's ur opinion on a 1993 Nissan Sentra SE-R, would u say its the Japanese version of the BMW 2002?
The Sentra is in no way a BMW of any time.
I would not even consider purchasing one.
Actually it was the original Datsun 510 (1968-1973) that used to be frequently compared to BMW. On paper they looked much the same. Of course they weren't really, but the 510 was much better than any inexpensive economy car of the time needed to be, with a strong overhead cam 1600cc engine and semi-trailing arm independent rear suspension. The ones that survive today have mostly been modified for racing.
probably yeah. The Datsun 510 is one of my favourite cars of all time. It was a gorgeous sedan before Nissan became kinda bland in the 80s and 90s.
Wish I still had mine. Unfortunately like other Japanese imports of that time rustproofing was basically nonexistent and they all rusted to death in areas with salted winter roads. About the only place you'll find a Datsun 510 these days is out West and they tend to go for crazy money.
here in ontario, canada I saw one on sale for 20k CAD and it was in some sky blue and it was in mint condition, so they are hard to find and they are going up in value.
It must have never been driven in winter! Yes, the 510 is quite a rare beast now, especially a stock one, and they can be pretty expensive. Hard to believe they were one of the least expensive cars you could buy when they were new. I still have some "Road Emperor" brand aftermarket ignition parts kicking around the garage somewhere for the 510 I had.
That car is not the Japanese version of BMW. I would never buy a Sentra- even the older ones still have some flaws.
Just to give folks perspective - 2002 TII 128 hp, Nissan SE-R 165 hp, 2021 Camry 202 base, 300 hp optional. Just when you think you're winning the rat race, here come faster rats.
The 93 style Sentra ser should be an sr20 and those engines were bulletproof and hAve a surprising amount of power for a four cylinder. They are awesome little cars but on that note it’s also an old car at this point so you need to be careful in the condition of the car it could be clean pristine or a bucket at this point
