Hi Scotty!
I drive a 2021 Audi A8L Plug-in Hybrid (60 tfsie) built in May 2021. The car has an electric range of 30 miles, and I have hardly used its V6 engine. So far the V6 engine has only propelled the car for around 1100 miles out of the total 3000 miles its done (1900 miles being driven solely by the electric motor).
The car has been sitting in the garage for almost 3 months now (since March 2022) ,and as of today (end of May 2022), it has been exactly 13 months since the car was built in Germany last year.
The car hasn't had its first engine oil change yet.
Can I use the engine to propel the car to my dealer (25 miles from where I live) to change the engine oil? If I start the engine now, will the 13 months old engine oil do damage to the engine? But if I only use the electric motor to drive the car to the dealer, surely the engine oil will be cold and thick when it's being drained since the engine has not been run for 3 months. Will this be problematic?
Is it true that it's better to change engine oil warm/hot because it's thinner? But in my case, I don't know if I should start and warm the engine before changing the engine oil since the engine oil is 13 months old. I am frustrated because the engine has hardly done any miles. Your help will be greatly appreciated!
Thanks very much!
Yours sincerely,
James
