I have nasty green corrosion on my headlight connector for Totota Hilux and I was wondering could I use the MAF sensor cleaner that I have to clean it? Do I need to disconnect battery terminals before I clean it? Thanks!
I wouldn't use MAF cleaner.
Yes, I would disconnect the battery just in case.
I would try boiling hot water first to dissolve the oxidation. if that doesn't work then try a mildly acidic solution like dilute vinegar, scrubbing with old toothbrush, followed by generous rinsing with water. Or there's always Deoxit. Dry out the area completely with compressed air. Apply dieletric grease liberally and reconnect.
Thanks for the reply. I will try hot water and diluted vinegar with toothbrush first. Won't the connectors melt from boiling water? 😅
Nope
parts under the hood need to made to withstand high temperatures. After all, coolant gets up to boiling temp. So do hot engines and exhaust.
