Can I wait to replace my vtc on my 2012 crv if the noise isn’t that bad. What would it damage if I left it, can I just replace it in the future? (81k miles, 2012 crv lx, no other problems, no check engine light)
VTC Actuator. Common problem on the K series.

Yup I just did more research and found the same thing! Do you know if I can go on without replacing this, or will it cause major damage to my car?
You should address it ASAP.
That sounds BAD. Get it replaced ASAP.
@mrrangerzr1
Do I have that on my 2001 CRV?
Mine makes a similar screech at start up (as soon as I release the key from the start position), but only in freezing temps.
Please check the drive belt and replace with a brand new one if necessary (frayed, damaged, etc).
If it’s not that, can you please make a video & post the link here?
I did have this checked just before we got it by our trusted mechanic, if this changes anything as well, it only has 81k miles. I will check this later and will hopefully find out how to post a video here. Thank you for the suggestion, I will hopefully get back to you soon.
Hi, I have a 2012 Honda CR-V lx and when I start it after it sitting for a few hours, or when the engine is cold, there is a loud flapping noise. At first I thought it was the hood cover, then the hood stand but none of those were the problem. This happens for only one second when originally turning the key, and after the engine is warm goes away even if I start it again. Does anyone have the same problem or know what it might be?
As long as it doesn't break of course if it breaks it will destroy all kinds of stuff inside the engine. But often they can go quite some time just making noise
