[Solved] Can you drive a few miles with dead O2 Sensor

Scootty,

My son's 2002 Camry has a dead O2 sensor. Can he drive it a few miles to a repair shop or he HAS to tow the car? 
He is worried about damaging the catalytic converter and engine. Any advice?
