HHR has trouble starting, after sitting a few hours, without pressing the gas pedal

Hi Scotty and community. My girlfriend's 2009 Chevy HHR 2LT with the 2.4 liter engine, automatic transmission, and 123k miles has trouble starting if it's had a chance to sit a few hours. Pressing the gas allows it to start, after which it runs normally. I've already changed the filthy engine air filter, cleaned the throttle body and MAF sensor, and she's halfway through a gas tank full of BG fuel system cleaner. She also had a bad EVAP system vent valve solenoid for a long time which I replaced and it cleared the trouble code. The car starts more easily after all this work but still doesn't start with just the ignition like it should. This is maybe unrelated but her right rear tire pressure sensor works on and off after we had her tires changed. Otherwise no trouble codes or issues. Where else should I look? Thank you in advance

It's 12 years old. Perhaps a new OEM gas cap might help.

It's not throwing any trouble codes at the moment so I don't think it's that. I'm looking more for things to test or possible fixes. If I can do it myself that would be great but at the very least I don't want to go into the mechanic blind

Appreciate the suggestion though!
