Car AC stops cooling when idling

Hi Scotty,

I have a Totoya Corolla Altis 1.6 V 2011 Automatic which I have just bought almost a month ago. The mileage is 65k and is running good when I bought it. The only problem that I noticed after three weeks is that the AC stops cooling when my car is idle.

I have to stop my car, turn off the AC and then start again, then move my car. However, if I were in a traffic jam, even if I restarted my car AC, it won't start cooling unless I move and run my car.

What seems to be the problem of my car? I have watched your video in YouTube on checking the Freon. All of the AC blowers inside my car are equally breezing cool air. The radiator fan has right amount of coolant as well. The compressor, I think is also in good condition.

I hope that you can help me. Thank you so much, Scotty!

Sincerely,

Domijones M.

Is the car overheating too? Does the temperature gauge rise, when the AC stops blowing cold?

Hi,

No, the car does not overheat. Only the temperature is affected when inside the car. The temperature gauge is normal and does not rise up.

Check your cooling fans. They should turn on, when you switch on the AC.

Hi,

The cooling fans are all good. Thank you for all of your suggestions.

You may be low on Freon.

Hi,

I will have this checked with a mechanic. Thank you!
