Scotty, I need some car buying advice. Personal reasons have caused me to need to purchase a new car. 3 are local that I can afford. a 2004 Scion xB with about 67,000 miles, a 2006 Toyota Matrix XR with about the same, and a 2012 Subaru Impreza 5 speed manual with 100,000 miles. The Matrix and xB are both automatic. What are your opinions?

Sorry; my limit is $8,000 and it would just be used for getting to work and to my parent's house. So I guess a pleasure classified use. I only drive about 9,000 miles a year. I just don't want an oil burner or something that has a bad automatic transmission.
Get the matrix if it doesn't burn oil some of those Toyota engines including the Scion burn oil so pull out a couple spark plugs to see if they're clean or if they have burnt carbon on them showing it's burning oil
