Car Fax Comment

Hi Scotty! I really enjoy your you tube channel. You had a segment on Car Fax. Several years ago I hit a cement pole in the parking garage where I worked. I turned it in to my insurance company and they paid the bill. I did not report the accident. This was not listed as an accident with the police. Later down the road I decided to sell my truck and I thought I would pay for a Car Fax report to see if showed damages. The truck showed no accident reports. I think Car Fax does not report repairs without a police reports.

Thanks, Ken

Scotty has been saying that for years. Never trust it blindly!

That’s why it’s a good idea to always get a pre purchase inspection done on ANY used car, by a good independent mechanic.

Agree, but easy and can still be useful. Inspection only way to know tho. So I would do both ; )

Agreed, it’s a good place to start to look for any obvious red flags. Can potentially save a lot of time.

Yeah of course not if they don't report it and it doesn't show. Scotty had a story where an Infinity hit his customer's Volvo and got obliterated but didn't report it and decided to pay out of pocket.

If there is no insurance claim, it does not show on the CarFax. That's their trigger that an accident occurred is they pick it up when it is reported to insurance.

Never trust those reports blindly.
