What all maintenance needs to be done in my 2015 Grand Cherokee?

I have a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limit V6 4WD. I brought it new. I have just over 51,000 miles on it. I never had any trouble with it and i keep the oil  and filter changed every 5000 miles by Dodge Service, but I never had the anti-freeze, transmission fluid or serpentine belt changed on it. It also has the original battery. Do you think it is time to change some of these other things besides just oil and filter.

Definitely!

Check your owner’s manual if it has any guidance on the above fluid change intervals. If not, you’re due for basically everything including coolant, transmission fluid, brake fluid, differential fluid, the works.

Also, if not already done, it may be a good idea for a tune up too (no need to change the spark plugs if they’re still in good shape due to low mileage).

Find an honest independent mechanic in your area and avoid visiting the stealership for any minor service/fluid change.

Have the drive belt inspected during the service and also load test the battery and alternator, to check the shape they’re in.

All the best!

Be sure to change transmission fluid every 40,000 miles and use the OEM fluid.

That’s not a ton of miles, but you should probably do a few things based on miles + age:

  • front and rear differential fluid
  • transfer case fluid
  • spark plugs
  • coolant drain (+/- flush) and fill

Those are all DIY level services. Pick up the Haynes shop manual for the details.  Also, be aware that those fluids are brand-specific.  Get the OEM Mopar fluids.

The belt needs inspection but replacement is as-needed.
PS: the brake fluid and steering fluid are probably due, too. Those are also easy DIY jobs.
