Hey Scotty, I recently bought a 2008 Nissan Tiida (Versa equiv. in USA) hatchback with 112,000 kms. I find that it emits a lot of excess fuel out of the exhaust on cold startups, more than one would expect. I found the air filter was dirty and replaced this with a new one. The car still appears to run rich and emit a lot of unburnt fuel on cold startup. Other then this observation the car runs well and starts up all the time, cold or hot. Will the car computer make adjustments over time with the new air filter to prevent this ? Can anything be adjusted to reduce the excessive fuel being emitted during cold startup ?
could be caused by a dirty or faulty mass air flow sensor. I would try cleaning it with mass air flow cleaner / electrical contact cleaner and leave it to dry. then install it back in the car.
Removed the mass air flow sensor, it looked quite clean, however I gave it a clean with MAF special spray. Hasn't made any difference the car runs quite rich and emits excess fuel on cold startup ? Any other suggestions to solve the problem ?
@tom123 I have dimilar problem car starts. With higher fuel tacho reafing around 1300 for around 1 minute thdn slowly comes down to 900 rpm which is normal
Downstream oxygen sensor wire if tapped sometimes stalls the car
It has stalled while driving
Tapped the wire that is on the car sidd of 02 sensor & car starts?
